"Hindu Kings killed all Buddhists, banned Buddhism and converted all Buddhist temples into Hindu ones and this has been verified by India's foremost Hindu historian Kalhana Pandit, China's foremost historian Xuanzhang, Tibet's foremost historian Taranatha as well as India's top icons from Gandhi & Ambedkar to Vivekananda & Bankim Chandra --- as well as the world's top Indologists headed by Professor DN Jha (Head of Indian History Congress). It is now settled in academia beyond doubt.
The Mauryan Empire: India's greatest ever Emperor was the Buddhist Ashoka whose Buddhist Pillar is the National Emblem of India. Ashoka is India's first ever Chakravartin or Supreme Leader who ruled over the Indian subcontinent and mandated Buddhism as India's only ever State Religion. Pushyamitra Shunga, a Hindu General killed Brihadratha Maurya -- the last heir of the great Emperor Ashoka and ceased State Power in a bloody coup de tat. He then destroyed over 84000 Buddhist stupas and put a price tag on the head of every Buddhist monk. Even today Hindus carry on a tradition of placing pumpkin heads outside their home to mock the decapitated heads of Buddhist monks slaughtered by Hindu Kings.
The Gandhara Civilization: Buddhist civilization was founded by Greeks who created the oldest Buddhist art, statuary and reliquary stupas. Mihirakula, the Hindu devotee of the Hindu god Shiva killed 30 million Buddhists and destroyed 1600 monasteries in Gandhara - thus wiping out the foremost Buddhist civilization that inspired the bulk of Asian art. Mihirakula was so evil that he committed the worst atrocities even on corpses all in the name of the Hindu god Shiva who is associated with Aghoris - shown by CNN to be cannibals that eat, desecrate and even have sexual relations with corpses.
Mahabodhi Temple & all Buddhist pilgrimage sites.: Hindus outlawed all Buddhists as Untouchables - the lowest rung of the caste system which is the world's oldest and longest running system of slavery. Untouchables are not allowed any of the basic human rights and are subjected to inhumane crimes (Dalits.net for details).. Hindus even made laws in their scriptures that it was an unforgivable crime to even speak to a Buddhist or enter a Buddhist temple. As a result, all of Buddhism was wiped out of India and the lavish Buddhist temples were converted into Hindu ones. Even the Mahabodhi Temple where the Buddha gained enlightenment was taken over by Hindus and the Buddha statue replaced by the Hindu deity Shiva. Even today, the Shiva deity can be seen near the Buddhist altar. Further, across India, the many Buddhist stupas were converted into Hindu Shivlingams (Penis of Shiva). Vivekananda concedes that all of the famous Hindu Temples - from Jagannath to Tirupati to Kedarnath and Bhaskareshwar were stolen from Buddhists.
Adi Shankaracharya - Even Gandhi laments that Shankaracharya - the Pope and Founder of Hinduism subjected Buddhists to extreme cruelty and drove them all out of India. Tibetan historian Taranatha documents that Shankara LOST in debate to Nalanda's top scholar Dharmakirti and committed suicide in the Ganges river at age 32 -- making the Ganges the world's most polluted and filthy river. Shankara's own biography states that before his death, Shankara convinced King Sudhavanana of Ujjain to kill every Buddhist from Ramaleshwar in the South to Himalayas in the North. Shankara accompanied the armies of Sudhavanan and killed every Buddhist and everyone who refused to kill a Buddhist. Shankara then converted all Buddhist temples into Hindu ones and even called Prachanna or Plagiarist by his peers and even Hindu icons from Vivekananda to Modi.
