Synopsis
The first international film on Asia's greatest warrior monk Bodhidharma (Dalma in Korea, Daruma in Japan, Damo in China) and updated for today's generations
This modern day retelling of the story of Bodhidharma - an Indian Prince who like the historic Buddha, relinquished his palace and royal status to become a Buddhist monk and empowered women like Amrapali as well as battled adversaries and assassins like Devdutta. Escaping India during the Buddhist Genocide, Bodhidharma was destined to become the most influential monk in the history of China, Japan and Korea where he birthed Shaolin Kung Fu to defend Buddhism against enemies and add an alpha martial energy to counter pacifism and weakness.
Several scenes of the film are also inspired by some of the most important artworks in Asian history as well as depictions by the greatest artists featured from the Museums of Asia - including such Buddhist masters as Hokusai, Seeshu and Haranobu that influenced Monet, Renoir and Picasso. With detailed research and authenticity, the film is presented in a modern day manner to appeal to present and future generations. Even Korea's likely next leader Lee Jae-Myung said the Korean Government will promote Buddhism as the foundation of Korea's traditional culture and Buddha Files is the most important Buddhist film ever made as Dalma/Daruma/Damo is the most influential Buddhist monk in history.
